Perfume - Electro World

I bought an iPod shuffle today. My first iPod. Its the small one. 1gig. I bought it so I could listen to music while I run. Then I had to find some upbeat pumping music to run to. I stumbled upon this jpop girl group Perfume. Fun music. Good for exercise.

Here is a playlist with 4 Perfume songs. Electo world, Chocolate Disco, Computer City and Polyrhythm. That should get you up and moving.

Ben Harper- Better Way

It is hard for me to believe that we are at the 5th anniversary of the Iraq war and that there is no end in sight. I have to agree with Ben Harper when he says "I believe in a better way".

Brick House - Joan Osborne + Diesel

I've seen the Grateful Dead, I have seen Joan Osborne, I just haven't seen them together. I think I was working as a postdoc at the time and didn't have the chance to get out of the lab.

Brick House - Dead, Bob Wier, Phil Lesh, Joan Osborne

Live is Sausalito CA.

I don't know why, but that got me thinking of this song by Diesel

The Move - Cherry Blossom Clinic Revisited

I have not heard this song in ages. I used to play this on harmonica. The band is The Move and the song is called Cherry Blossom Clinic Revisited. I was very excited when I stubbled upon this video. A classic rock song with lyrics below.

The Move - Cherry Blossom Clinic Revisited

(It was one morning when I woke up, and then I found out that they'd signed some
papers, and then I was gonna be kept in a bed owing to my state of mind.
And then I found out that the authorities had said, um, that I'd gotta
have special food fed to me for my thoughts, um, and I think it's because,
because I was going off my...)

Head
Sunbeam from flowered skies
Twenty thousand butterflies
Glorify my...
Turn from hot to very cool
Though it seems incredible
I could ride a bike around the room

Cherry Blossom Clinic
Is there any truth in what they say
Cherry Blossom Clinic
Lock me in and throw the key away

In this sad position where I lie
From the corner of my eye
Callous friends just pass me by
Doctor pays a visit
Everyday I keep asking for my Dad
They must think I'm going mad
Lift the blankets off my face
Quick before I suffocate
Trying hard to meditate
Tell the people, "What a scene"
Write a letter to the Queen
Asking her if she can come to tea

CHORUS

Up above the sun is high
Like a tea tray in the sky
Helicopter lands upon my bed
Phantom horses quickly fade
Turning into lemonade
Probably feel better when I'm dead

CHORUS

Yael Naim – New Soul

It seems that Apple has a knack for launching musical careers by placing artist into their product commercials. Yael Naim’s song “New Soul” appears in the Mac Air commercial. In case you haven’t caught on yet, I am a Mac person but I am an old soul. I like new soul’s. Fresh meat! ☺

Carrie Underwood - All American Girl

I don't usually pay much attention to country music. Vocals these days seem to be computer generated. This song is no exception but I like the video. Very cute.

Colbie - good music but bad internet

I have been trying to promote this girl’s music but it seems that there are forces blocking any efforts. Every time I try to post a blog about Colbie Calliet it never makes it through. Universal prevents any links to her videos. There seems to be some kind of block to her myspace site. So…. I will link to people’s tributes. Great music, good rhythm.

The music is great but the blocks are bull shit. Sorry but…..fuck Colbie.

Blind Faith - Can't Find My Way Home

I love this song. Blind Faith's classic "Can't Find My Way Home." Steve Winwood, Traffic, Eric Clampton, all good stuff. Here is an acoustic and electric version of the classic Blind Faith song.

Pukka Orchestra - Might As Well Be On Mars

I haven't heard this song in years. It's a great song from the 80's. Everybody loves 80's music. The name of the band is Pukka Orchestra. If anyone has sheet music or tab for this song, please send it to me. I have listed my version of the lyrics below.

Sunday morning with the New York Times
The sun is shining in my penthouse suite
My valet is laying out some lines
They reach from Culver Beach to Easy Street
Before the mirror you apply your cream
Cosmetic secret of eternal youth
Is something the matter, no it's just a bad dream
I know you'd leave me if you knew the truth.

I might as well be on Mars
I might as well be on Mars
Only the stars mean anything to you
I might as well be on Mars
I might as well be on Mars
I'm already that far away from you.

We lead such a sweet existence
But I'm reaching out to you in vain
You're disappearing in the distance
Of this alien terrain.

Sunday morning with the New York Times
The sun is shining in my penthouse suite
My valet is laying out some lines
Miami Beach to Easy Street

Monday night, another day goes by
Your voice keeps telling me that life is sweet
You watch your star flash into the sky
Fall to earth again on Easy Street.

Cansei De Ser Sexy (CSS) - Music is my Hot Hot Sex

Cansei De Ser Sexy (CSS) is from Sao Paulo Brazil.

CSS - Music is my Hot Hot Sex

I think I like this live version better.

Music is my hot hot sex live in Glastonbury (not as good as the Paris Jam)

Here are the lyrics for CSS Music is my Hot Hot Sex

From all the drugs the one I like more is music
From all the junks the one I need more is music
From all the boys the one I take home is music
From all the ladies the one I kiss is music (muah!)

Music is my boyfriend
Music is my girlfriend
Music is my dead end
Music is my imaginary friend
Music is my brother
Music is my great-grand-daughter
Music is my sister
Music is my favorite mistress

From all the shit the one I gotta buy is music
From all the jobs the one I choose is music
From all the drinks the one I get drunk of music
From all the bitches the one I wannabe is music

Music is my beach house
Music is my hometown
Music is my kingsize bed
Music is where I meet my friends
Music is my hot hot bath
Music is my hot hot sex
Music is my back rub
My music is where I'd like you to touch

Claro-que-sim
Fui escoteira-mirim
Direto da escola, não
Não ia cheirar cola
Nem basquete, pebolim
O que eu gosto não é de graça
O que gosto não é farsa
Tem guitarra, bateria, computador saindo som
Alguns dizem que mais alto que um furacão (rhéum)

Perto dele eu podia sentir
Saía de seu olho e chegava em mim
Sentada do seu lado
Eu queria encostar
Faria o tigela até o sol raiar
Debaixo do lençol
Ele gemia em ré bemol
Fiquei tensa

Grateful Dead - Woodstock 1969

I put together all of the clips I could find of the Grateful Dead jam at Woodstock in 1969. They did a five song set consisting of St. Stephen, Mama Tried, Darkstar / Hightime, and Turn on your Lovelight. They played in the pouring rain and had electrical problems which cut their set short but it is a classic collection nonetheless. I threw in two extras, one at the beginning and one at the end, which show some highlights. I can't find any footage of darkstar but if you have some, let me know. If you are looking for tab of grateful dead music I suggest jdarks.com.
